Do you have experience with brain retraining or autoimmune conditions?

I have tinkered with brain retraining but really need to look at it seriously. I have a family history prone to autoimmune conditions and am very conscious about food and chemicals due to sensitivities. Currently just waiting for a skin condition to finally clear up 4 years after the covid jab that precipitated it! Have been helping my mother with issues rating to fibromyalgia which I am sure is related to over-medication and immune issues, she is currently doing much better after stopping drinking caffeine, reducing sugar and seed oils. So I have an interest in these things!

I think you might see even quicker results than I have on the Gupta Program. They also show very encouraging clinical-trial results specifically for fibromyalgia.

Thanks, but my Mum's 85 and it was hard enough to convince her to stop caffeine! Stuff about the brain will be a step too far I think. I have been changing my work routine to help with stress ( effective) and improve my health and it is all about the mind, I now realise. Thanks for the recommendation.

You're welcome. I'm sorry to hear of your post-jab issues; I've heard similar from others. It sounds like you're doing a lot of excellent work on your own. And I hear ya on the mum resistance. I'm sure my own mother, who's 77, has a similar condition, and she's not likely to engage with the Gupta techniques either. They really do take a commitment, as most things do that will provide lasting change. I'm sure you know that well. :)

Thanks for writing about this! The links between body and mind are subtle and not well known (if known at all) to conventional medicine, but very much present. I'm glad to learn about one program that is aware of them, and that you have found it helpful - and I'm glad to have a link to it, in case I need to know more about it at some point.

You're welcome, Claire. "Subtle and not well know, (if known at all) to conventional medicine, but very much present" - you said it. It's strange they keep wanting to ignore the links, given the scientific evidence and track record. My MD simply referred me back to his own LDN documentary when I tried to tell him about my progress and results. :(

super interesting! I wonder whether that's why it's possible to "outgrow" food allergies.

Astute comment - I've actually tried applying the Gupta techniques to reactions to animal dander and seasonal allergens, with equally good results! It's possible that whatever is at the root of the original association - a complex aspect I'll try to tackle in upcoming posts - gets resolved via other means in folks who seem to outgrow them. I'll be curious to see if my stepson ceases to react to horseradish at some point.

Sooooo... it's all in your head? 😉

Yes, of course I know it's much more complex than that. I hope you're finally finding the healing you've been searching for.

As an aside, I suffered for years - childhood, teen, and early adult - with debilitating hay fever. Had a traumatizing allergy test around age 8 - so many punches in my back with caustic substances applied to them! Grass, trees, cat and dog dander (and we had a cat), dust, and so many more were my issues. That was back in the day when antihistamines always put me to sleep, so I had to choose my misery. Did I want to stop sneezing and having my nose run like a faucet? Or did I want to be paralyzingly drowsy? UGH

And then I got pregnant with my first child at 24 - and my hay fever disappeared, never to return. No doctor I've ever had has been able to figure that out.

Miss you!

Mary K

Hello there, Mary K! It's great to hear from you again, especially with such a fascinating story. As you can attest here with your own experiences, the symptoms of these conditions are very real and very much in the body, so yeah, not all in your head, ha, ha. Two aspects are brought to my mind by your example: 1) I do think hormones play a significant role and 2) I wonder what sort of rewiring you essentially did in your own mind in that major shift toward motherhood that might have contributed to retraining away from hay fever. Thanks for weighing in, and I miss you as well! Hope life is treating you fine these days.

autoimmune is a big topic, a journey ive been on for a few years now. My hashimotos was not resolvable via diet alone. At all. I went all the way with food changes and addressed allergy and food sensitivities.

much of what I did was not conventional medicine (HT is largely 'untreatable') but always check in with specialists to monitor and make sure im not missing dangerous issues (such as cancer, or compression issues) I suggest others do the same...

i consulted different medicines (functional and regenerative) which significantly helped fine tune, balance and reintroduce components of my physiology that were low or off kilter (im skipping years of work), I added on specialized body work to facilitate this process (also not a novel approach for me)... (therapy and self exploration is an ongoing method of clearing 'cob webs').

the sublety of the mind, really I'll call it heartfulness, was the cherry on the cake. Concentration, mental quiet has been something ive been working on for (oh gosh, embarrassingly, decades? yikes)... Its shifted into -heart centered living, which enriches the quiet, the silence. I added things like periodic cold plunges and vagal focused methods to facilitate this further bc the immune system needed more support.

Im glad you found something that works for you and appreciate your share!

Thanks for sharing your experiences, Sonya. While I think inflammation and other negative responses to food additives play a role, yes, I wouldn’t expect any diet to resolve autoimmune issues on its own. Given your own journey, I’ll be interested to hear what you think of my post planned for this Wednesday on meditation.
