The churches of Charleston
This South Carolina burg is known for its beautiful houses of worship.
Anthony and I took a trip to Charleston, South Carolina, the week before Christmas to visit our son Zander, who’s studying in the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command at Goose Creek. The poor kid couldn’t leave base for the holidays, but he did get free from duty for a handful of days so that we could spend some quality time with him. It was a great trip, one that inspired a Charleston travelogue and some upcoming posts on the economic and ecological advantages to traveling by car, the value of paper maps, and a tribute to small towns. But for now, I leave you with this gallery of images I took as we walked the streets of this historic city, gawking at the many beautiful churches for which Charleston is known. Happy New Year!
I missed a comma there before “Zander.” Sorry, everyone! Yes, we only have the one son, so that was not an intentional restrictive clause.
